Gwyneth Thompson

Gwyneth Thompson is a human resource management consultant who has worked in business and personnel management for over 30 years, including at the Senior Executive Service level. Her expertise is predominantly in the public sector with a focus on linking organisational strategies and individual skills to produce high performance and enable both the organisation and the individual to develop their potential.

Gwyn has been working with CPM Reviews since mid-2009 and has undertaken a number of investigations under the APS Code of Conduct and has assisted agencies in individual performance review work.

Gwyn has also provided leadership and career coaching for a number of individuals and corporately for the National Gallery of Australia. She has facilitated meetings and business planning activities for a number of agencies and has developed and delivered a range of training and development activities, including a series of workshops on performance management for Medicare Australia, a 12-month leadership program for the ACRDC, Front Line Manager programs and the PSETA package for Defence.

Gwyn completed an 18 month assignment In Papua New Guinea where she worked with the Senior Executive cadre of the Department of Personnel Management on a range of corporate governance matters and the recruitment and performance management of departmental heads. Throughout the assignment she also coached the senior executives on their individual leadership and communication skills as well as strategic planning and performance monitoring and reporting and also delivered a range of training activities and coaching to the staff.

She led major change projects for the Australian Protective Service and has undertaken a range of organisational improvement work including change reviews in agencies such as Defence Housing Authority, Federal Magistrates Service, Department of Veterans' Affairs, the Royal Australian Mint, Australian Antarctic Division and Defence Materiel Organisation. She has undertaken feasibility studies into corporate governance and future policy matters for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and developed new directions for Equity and Diversity in Medicare Australia.

Gwyn's public sector experience includes the Australian National Audit Office, where she was the Senior Executive responsible for corporate management; Australian Protective Service as State Manager NSW; senior management positions up to Branch Head in the Department of Immigration Sydney; Attorney General's Department; Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Health. She has a good appreciation of the challenges facing the Australian Public Service and initiatives to maintain the momentum.

Gwyn's key areas of specialism are APS code of conduct reviews, other ethical investigations and reviews, executive coaching and leadership programs; facilitation and training delivery, corporate governance and change; strategic planning, organisational improvement, change management; people and performance management; organisation structures, classification management, role and work systems review.

Gwyn has a Bachelor of Business in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Gwyn is also an accredited practitioner with MBTI; an accredited Leadership Coach and is a Certified Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
